ABOUT BAG

Thanks for visiting our fledgling website

Broadwater Action Group (B.A.G) is formed by residents local to protect the conservation areas established between Broadwater Road and New Barns and that at Well Street to do whatever is possible to preserve them and protect against inappropriate development.

It is being formed as an immediate response to plans to extend Kings Hill by nearly 900 houses and includes schools, health care facilities as well as a significant new access road. It will communicate the feelings of those residents directly and indirectly affected and it is proposed that it will fact-check and challenge both the developers, Berkeley Homes, and Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council (TMBC)to ensure that any development is as appropriate to the area as possible.

The formation of B.A.G has been proposed by a small group of residents after canvassing those residents who might be directly affected by this development. With the proposed constitution published here, this ‘Foundation Group’ is now proposing formation of B.A.G with a strong and representative membership where it can act on their behalf and provide the necessary support to individuals to ensure that their voices are heard during the planning process.

The  views of everyone who will be affected by this development should be  heard.  Its not just the residents that live adjacent to the proposed  development, the impact will be felt by everyone in East and West  Malling and Kings Hill.  Many of us enjoy the area for walking, running,  horse riding or cycling; enjoying the beauty of the landscape, the  wealth of animal and bird life and the fact that our  community is overwhelmingly rural in nature.  This proposed development  takes us yet still further to an unnecessary urban sprawl changing the  nature, character and beauty of our home for ever.
